RECREATION TRAINING

Explore our In-person or virtual training opportunities below and join us in building brighter futures through recreation.

Strong recreation leaders build strong communities.

RPAN’s training programs focus on building capacity in communities to empower recreation staff and youth leaders  across Nunavut with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to deliver high-quality, organized, culturally relevant recreation programs in their community.

We equip individuals with practical tools, certifications, and leadership development to ensure sustainable, locally-led recreation in every community. Whether you're new to the field or an experienced recreation professional, our training helps you support mental and physical wellness, foster youth development, and promote community connection through recreation.

From Summer Day Camp and Winter Youth After-School and PD Camp week leadership training to RPAN's annual Recreation and Leadership Conference and the Recreation North Training Program, RPAN is committed to supporting Nunavut’s recreation workforce.

When we invest in recreation professionals, we invest in healthier, more connected, and more resilient communities.

RECREATION AND LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE - RECREATION STREAM

October 3 - 5, 2025  (Iqaluit, NU)

Each year, recreation staff are invited to attend RPAN's annual Recreation and Leadership Conference, brining together Recreation and Sport leaders from across Nunavut to network, collaborate, learn and share best practices from their community and region.  Participants will listen and learn innovative ways to improve their leadership abilities and navigate challenges through leadership development sessions, how to plan and deliver programs and special events and more.

GET HAPPY SUMMER DAY CAMP TRAINING

Established in 2010, the Get Happy Summer Day Camp and associated training has quickly become RPAN's signature program, reaching 20 of Nunavut's communities and more than 20,000 children.

Each year, RPAN hosts leadership training in Iqaluit in June for participating communities, welcoming 4-5 youth leaders (16-29 years of age) along with recreation staff to learn how to work as a team, receive First aid training and certification and ultimately how to plan, organize and deliver a summer day camp in their community.

Similar to the Get Happy Summer Day Camp, the NU Moves Winter Youth After-School and PD Camp Week program and training offers communities the opportunity to travel to Winnipeg, MB, each year to participate in in-person  leadership training or plan, organize and deliver an after-school and PD Camp week program.

RPAN welcomes 3 youth leaders (16-29 years of age) from each community along with recreation staff to participate in teambuilding, and leadership workshop sessions that will help further their skills and deliver an after-school and PD Camp week program in their community.
